NZSMIRT Consultation now open – MRI Safety and Remote Scanning Position Statement
The New Zealand Society of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Incorporated (NZSMIRT) is pleased to invite your feedback on a draft MRI Safety and Remote Scanning Position Statement, now open for consultation.
As technology evolves and workforce pressures continue to shape service delivery, remote MRI scanning is becoming an increasingly relevant model in Aotearoa New Zealand. While NZSMIRT supports innovation that improves patient access and service sustainability, patient safety and professional standards must remain at the centre of any change.
This draft position statement outlines NZSMIRT’s proposed approach to MRI safety within remote scanning models, including the key principles that should guide safe and effective practice. Importantly, remote MRI introduces risks not present in traditional onsite workflows, and your input is critical to ensuring these are appropriately addressed.
